This was another animation experiment created entirely in MagicaCSG. I modeled a simple bowling alley, ball and pins using SDF modeling, then animated the ball rolling down the lane and crashing into the pins.
Since MagicaCSG doesn’t have traditional animation tools, I approached the animation almost like stopmotion, moving the objects a little at a time and saving a new rendered frame after each change.
I really enjoy the visual quality of MagicaCSG’s renders, and there’s something very playful and intuitive about modeling with SDFs. Working this way made the animation process feel less technical and more like moving physical objects around a miniature set.
It was a simple experiment, but a fun way to explore how SDF modeling could be used for animation, even without conventional animation tools.
