< Created in 2008, for a friend who wanted to do some compositing in aftereffects and needed a 3d element.

The objective was to model a space station resembling the one in the movie 2001 a space odyssey.

modeled using Lightwave 9.5

< Used worley's fprime for rendering.

Enjoy the realtime feedback when it comes to lighting and surfacing.

< Added some stars in Photoshop, playing around with some film grain.
station3
< Unsharpen mask in Photoshop and a touch of chromatic aberration.
station4
< Added more details to the paneling using Lightwave's node editor, mixing parquet and planks nodes.
station5

< Procedurals rock!

Used "pipes" texture from the rman Procedural collection for Lightwave.

station6

< Posted some progress on www.spinquad.com and got some good feedback and suggestions. It was brought to my attention I should put more thought into what my main light sources are.

In this case I wanted the earth to provide the main source of illumination.

Added a glow in Photoshop to give a hint of the earths presence.

< Final image

Another suggestion by a spinquad users was to consider the light emitted from the earth as secondary and the sun as primary. With that in mind I re-lit the scene adding a slighly warm main light, which complimented nicely the blue diffuse light.

Final tweaks in Photoshop.
